In 3.5.0 through 3.5.2, SumatraPDF's update mechanism disables TLS hostname verification (INTERNET_FLAG_IGNORE_CERT_CN_INVALID) and executes installers without signature checks. A network attacker with any valid TLS certificate (e.g., Let's Encrypt) can intercept the update check request, inject a malicious installer URL, and achieve arbitrary code execution.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-494","CWE-295"],"references":["https://github.com/sumatrapdfreader/sumatrapdf/security/advisories/GHSA-xpm2-rr5m-x96q"],"products":["sumatrapdfreader:sumatrapdf"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25961","score":0.00439,"percentile":0.38197,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
