{"cve":"CVE-2026-25792","nvd":{"published":"2026-03-20T11:18:01.753","modified":"2026-06-17T10:25:15.160","status":"Analyzed","description":"Greenshot is an open source Windows screenshot utility. Versions 1.3.312 and below have untrusted executable search path / binary hijacking vulnerability that allows a local attacker to execute arbitrary code when the affected Windows application launches explorer.exe without using an absolute path. The vulnerable behavior is triggered when the user double-clicks the application’s tray icon, which opens the directory containing the most recent screenshot captured by the application. By placing a malicious executable with the same name in a location searched prior to the legitimate Windows binary, an attacker can gain code execution in the context of the application. This issue did not have a patch at the time of publication.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:H/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-426"],"references":["https://github.com/greenshot/greenshot/security/advisories/GHSA-f8v9-7fph-fr2j"],"products":["getgreenshot:greenshot"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:26:19.218427112+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25792","score":0.00196,"percentile":0.09358,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
