{"cve":"CVE-2026-25765","nvd":{"published":"2026-02-09T21:15:49.490","modified":"2026-06-17T10:25:11.687","status":"Analyzed","description":"Faraday is an HTTP client library abstraction layer that provides a common interface over many adapters. Prior to 2.14.1, Faraday's build_exclusive_url method (in lib/faraday/connection.rb) uses Ruby's URI#merge to combine the connection's base URL with a user-supplied path. Per RFC 3986, protocol-relative URLs (e.g. //evil.com/path) are treated as network-path references that override the base URL's host/authority component. This means that if any application passes user-controlled input to Faraday's get(), post(), build_url(), or other request methods, an attacker can supply a protocol-relative URL like //attacker.com/endpoint to redirect the request to an arbitrary host, enabling Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF). This vulnerability is fixed in 2.14.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":5.8},"cwes":["CWE-918"],"references":["https://github.com/lostisland/faraday/commit/a6d3a3a0bf59c2ab307d0abd91bc126aef5561bc","https://github.com/lostisland/faraday/releases/tag/v2.14.1","https://github.com/lostisland/faraday/security/advisories/GHSA-33mh-2634-fwr2"],"products":["faraday_project:faraday"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25765","score":0.00399,"percentile":0.34154,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-33mh-2634-fwr2","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-33mh-2634-fwr2","summary":"Faraday affected by SSRF via protocol-relative URL host override in build_exclusive_url","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:33.817829224Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"faraday","purl":"pkg:gem/faraday","ranges":[">=2.0.0 <2.14.1"],"fixed":["2.14.1"]},{"ecosystem":"RubyGems","name":"faraday","purl":"pkg:gem/faraday","ranges":[">=1.0.0 <1.10.5"],"fixed":["1.10.5"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
