{"cve":"CVE-2026-25727","nvd":{"published":"2026-02-06T20:16:11.860","modified":"2026-06-17T10:25:07.083","status":"Analyzed","description":"time provides date and time handling in Rust. From 0.3.6 to before 0.3.47, when user-provided input is provided to any type that parses with the RFC 2822 format, a denial of service attack via stack exhaustion is possible. The attack relies on formally deprecated and rarely-used features that are part of the RFC 2822 format used in a malicious manner. Ordinary, non-malicious input will never encounter this scenario. A limit to the depth of recursion was added in v0.3.47. From this version, an error will be returned rather than exhausting the stack.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:L/UI:A/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:H","score":6.8},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-121"],"references":["https://github.com/time-rs/time/blob/main/CHANGELOG.md#0347-2026-02-05","https://github.com/time-rs/time/commit/1c63dc7985b8fa26bd8c689423cc56b7a03841ee","https://github.com/time-rs/time/releases/tag/v0.3.47","https://github.com/time-rs/time/security/advisories/GHSA-r6v5-fh4h-64xc"],"products":["time_project:time"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25727","score":0.00339,"percentile":0.27406,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-r6v5-fh4h-64xc","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-r6v5-fh4h-64xc","summary":"time vulnerable to stack exhaustion Denial of Service attack","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:35.583241382Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"time","purl":"pkg:cargo/time","ranges":[">=0.3.6 <0.3.47"],"fixed":["0.3.47"]}]},{"id":"RUSTSEC-2026-0009","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/RUSTSEC-2026-0009","summary":"Denial of Service via Stack Exhaustion","modified":"2026-02-06T09:17:04.230802Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"time","purl":"pkg:cargo/time","ranges":[">=0.3.6 <0.3.47"],"fixed":["0.3.47"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
