Prior to version 2.0.55, Claude Code failed to properly validate commands using piped sed operations with the echo command, allowing attackers to bypass file write restrictions. This vulnerability enabled writing to sensitive directories like the .claude folder and paths outside the project scope. Exploiting this required the ability to execute commands through Claude Code with the \"accept edits\" feature enabled. This issue has been patched in version 2.0.55.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:P/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-20","CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/anthropics/claude-code/security/advisories/GHSA-mhg7-666j-cqg4"],"products":["anthropic:claude_code"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25723","score":0.00391,"percentile":0.33223,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mhg7-666j-cqg4","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mhg7-666j-cqg4","summary":"Claude Code Vulnerable to Command Injection via Piped sed Command Bypasses File Write Restrictions","modified":"2026-02-06T20:11:41.330395Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@anthropic-ai/claude-code","purl":"pkg:npm/%40anthropic-ai/claude-code","ranges":["<2.0.55"],"fixed":["2.0.55"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
