Prior to 0.8.29, there is a sandbox escape vulnerability due to a mismatch between the key on which the validation is performed and the key used for accessing properties. Even though the key used in property accesses is annotated as string, this is never enforced. So, attackers can pass malicious objects that coerce to different string values when used, e.g., one for the time the key is sanitized using hasOwnProperty(key) and a different one for when the key is used for the actual property access. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.8.29.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.0},"cwes":["CWE-367"],"references":["https://github.com/nyariv/SandboxJS/blob/6103d7147c4666fe48cfda58a4d5f37005b43754/src/executor.ts#L304-L304","https://github.com/nyariv/SandboxJS/commit/67cb186c41c78c51464f70405504e8ef0a6e43c3","https://github.com/nyariv/SandboxJS/security/advisories/GHSA-7x3h-rm86-3342","https://github.com/nyariv/SandboxJS/security/advisories/GHSA-7x3h-rm86-3342"],"products":["nyariv:sandboxjs"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25641","score":0.00529,"percentile":0.44775,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7x3h-rm86-3342","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7x3h-rm86-3342","summary":"@nyariv/sandboxjs vulnerable to sandbox escape via TOCTOU bug on keys in property accesses","modified":"2026-02-06T22:22:04.213605Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@nyariv/sandboxjs","purl":"pkg:npm/%40nyariv/sandboxjs","ranges":["<0.8.29"],"fixed":["0.8.29"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
