Prior to 9.2.0, Calibre's CHM reader contains a path traversal vulnerability that allows arbitrary file writes anywhere the user has write permissions. On Windows (haven't tested on other OS's), this can lead to Remote Code Execution by writing a payload to the Startup folder, which executes on next login. This vulnerability is fixed in 9.2.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.6},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibre/commit/9739232fcb029ac15dfe52ccd4fdb4a07ebb6ce9","https://github.com/kovidgoyal/calibre/security/advisories/GHSA-32vh-whvh-9fxr","https://0x5t.raptx.org/posts/calibre-chm-rce"],"products":["calibre-ebook:calibre"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25635","score":0.0051,"percentile":0.43518,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
