{"cve":"CVE-2026-25551","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-04T18:16:28.923","modified":"2026-09-02T17:17:40.003","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"Seagull Software BarTender 2021 R1 through 12.0.1 contains an insecure deserialization vulnerability that allows low-privileged local users to escalate privileges. The DataServiceSingleton .NET Remoting endpoint is bound to localhost on TCP port 7375 via BtSystem.Service.exe, limiting the attack surface to local access only. The endpoint is configured with BinaryServerFormatterSinkProvider and TypeFilterLevel set to Full. A low-privileged local attacker can send YSoSerial.NET-generated BinaryFormatter payloads to the localhost-bound endpoint to achieve code execution as NT AUTHORITY\\\\\\\\SYSTEM. The vulnerability was corrected in BarTender 12.1, released on August 14, 2026. Users should upgrade to BarTender 12.1 or later.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:L/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.5},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://gist.github.com/VAMorales/dde5b1c0415a8505ccd6fafdb095a618","https://portal.seagullscientific.com/downloads/bartender","https://trust.seagullsoftware.com/?tcuUid=55ed135f-683c-4e9b-a59d-7d4373c0ac7e","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/seagull-software-bartender-deserialization-privilege-escalation-via-net-remoting-service"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:37:48.043517290+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25551","score":0.00132,"percentile":0.02736,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
