Prior to version 5.0.1, @isaacs/brace-expansion is vulnerable to a denial of service (DoS) issue caused by unbounded brace range expansion. When an attacker provides a pattern containing repeated numeric brace ranges, the library attempts to eagerly generate every possible combination synchronously. Because the expansion grows exponentially, even a small input can consume excessive CPU and memory and may crash the Node.js process. This issue has been patched in version 5.0.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:H","score":9.2},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-1333"],"references":["https://github.com/isaacs/brace-expansion/security/advisories/GHSA-7h2j-956f-4vf2"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25547","score":0.00538,"percentile":0.45324,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-7h2j-956f-4vf2","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-7h2j-956f-4vf2","summary":"@isaacs/brace-expansion has Uncontrolled Resource Consumption","modified":"2026-09-10T03:50:34.314813669Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@isaacs/brace-expansion","purl":"pkg:npm/%40isaacs/brace-expansion","ranges":["<5.0.1"],"fixed":["5.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
