Prior to version 5.7.3, a denial-of-service vulnerability in Fastify’s Web Streams response handling can allow a remote client to exhaust server memory. Applications that return a ReadableStream (or Response with a Web Stream body) via reply.send() are impacted. A slow or non-reading client can trigger unbounded buffering when backpressure is ignored, leading to process crashes or severe degradation. This issue has been patched in version 5.7.3.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:L","score":3.7},"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/fastify/fastify/commit/eb11156396f6a5fedaceed0140aed2b7f026be37","https://github.com/fastify/fastify/security/advisories/GHSA-mrq3-vjjr-p77c","https://hackerone.com/reports/3524779"],"products":["fastify:fastify"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-25224","score":0.00546,"percentile":0.45792,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mrq3-vjjr-p77c","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mrq3-vjjr-p77c","summary":"Fastify Vulnerable to DoS via Unbounded Memory Allocation in sendWebStream","modified":"2026-02-04T18:08:54.461651Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"fastify","purl":"pkg:npm/fastify","ranges":["<5.7.3"],"fixed":["5.7.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
