Prior to version 8.0.0, an authorization bypass vulnerability in the patient portal signature endpoint allows authenticated portal users to upload and overwrite provider signatures by setting `type=admin-signature` and specifying any provider user ID. This could potentially lead to signature forgery on medical documents, legal compliance violations, and fraud. The issue occurs when portal users are allowed to modify provider signatures without proper authorization checks. Version 8.0.0 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-285"],"references":["https://github.com/openemr/openemr/commit/a29c0f7ac0975429a85cd09a3ff12ee0dcdb4478","https://github.com/openemr/openemr/security/advisories/GHSA-xc8x-mfh8-9xvh","https://github.com/openemr/openemr/security/advisories/GHSA-xc8x-mfh8-9xvh"],"products":["open-emr:openemr"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:24:17.937441719+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-24890","score":0.00278,"percentile":0.20226,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
