{"cve":"CVE-2026-24850","nvd":{"published":"2026-01-28T01:16:15.097","modified":"2026-06-17T10:23:42.150","status":"Deferred","description":"The ML-DSA crate is a Rust implementation of the Module-Lattice-Based Digital Signature Standard (ML-DSA). Starting in version 0.0.4 and prior to version 0.1.0-rc.4, the ML-DSA signature verification implementation in the RustCrypto `ml-dsa` crate incorrectly accepts signatures with repeated (duplicate) hint indices. According to the ML-DSA specification (FIPS 204 / RFC 9881), hint indices within each polynomial must be **strictly increasing**. The current implementation uses a non-strict monotonic check (`<=` instead of `<`), allowing duplicate indices. This is a regression bug. The original implementation was correct, but a commit in version 0.0.4 inadvertently changed the strict `<` comparison to `<=`, introducing the vulnerability. Version 0.1.0-rc.4 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-347"],"references":["https://csrc.nist.gov/pubs/fips/204/final","https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/rfc9881","https://github.com/C2SP/wycheproof","https://github.com/C2SP/wycheproof/blob/master/testvectors_v1/mldsa_44_verify_test.json","https://github.com/C2SP/wycheproof/blob/master/testvectors_v1/mldsa_65_verify_test.json"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:21:16.563232421+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-24850","score":0.00335,"percentile":0.26875,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-5x2r-hc65-25f9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-5x2r-hc65-25f9","summary":"ML-DSA Signature Verification Accepts Signatures with Repeated Hint Indices","modified":"2026-02-03T03:06:29.257366Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"ml-dsa","purl":"pkg:cargo/ml-dsa","ranges":[">=0.0.4 <0.1.0-rc.4"],"fixed":["0.1.0-rc.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
