Bitfield assignments generate byte read–modify–write\noperations (e.g. `orb $mask, addr` on x86_64), so updating one flag can\nrestore stale values of the others.\n\nA possible interleaving is:\n CPU1: load old byte (has_lease=1, on_list=1)\n CPU2: clear both flags (store 0)\n CPU1: RMW store (old | IS_OPEN) -> reintroduces cleared bits\n\nTo avoid this class of races, convert these flags to separate bool\nfields.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-362"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/3eaa22d688311c708b73f3c68bc6d0c8e3f0f77a","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4386f6af8aaedd0c5ad6f659b40cadcc8f423828","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/4cfa4c37dcbcfd70866e856200ed8a2894cac578","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/569fecc56bfe4df66f05734d67daef887746656b","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/c4b9edd55987384a1f201d3d07ff71e448d79c1b"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-21T03:43:09.190223697+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-23230","score":0.00278,"percentile":0.20063,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
