The snapshot code\nraises an IPI interrupt, which results in another call to __sbi_ecall\nand another snapshot...\n\nAll it takes to get into this endless loop is one initial __sbi_ecall.\nOn RISC-V systems without SSTC extension, the clock events in\ntimer-riscv.c issue periodic sbi ecalls, making the problem easy to\ntrigger.\n\nAlways exclude the sbi_ecall.c functions from tracing to fix the\npotential deadlock.\n\nsbi ecalls can easiliy be logged via trace events, excluding ecall\nfunctions from function tracing is not a big limitation.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":5.5},"cwes":["CWE-667"],"references":["https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b0d7f5f0c9f05f1b6d4ee7110f15bef9c11f9df0","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/b1f8285bc8e3508c1fde23b5205f1270215d4984","https://git.kernel.org/stable/c/f8b8ec0ddde74066d4452a7a961da544f193e00f"],"products":["linux:linux_kernel"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-22T16:41:11.231219466+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-23217","score":0.0014,"percentile":0.03346,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
