Before 2.5.6, a prior patch aimed to block spawning Windows batch/shell files by returning an error when a spawned path’s extension matched .bat or .cmd. That check performs a case-sensitive comparison against lowercase literals and therefore can be bypassed when the extension uses alternate casing (for example .BAT, .Bat, etc.). This vulnerability is fixed in 2.5.6.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-77"],"references":["https://github.com/denoland/deno/releases/tag/v2.5.6","https://github.com/denoland/deno/security/advisories/GHSA-m3c4-prhw-mrx6"],"products":["deno:deno"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:19:41.481987139+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-22864","score":0.00672,"percentile":0.521,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-m3c4-prhw-mrx6","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-m3c4-prhw-mrx6","summary":"Deno has an incomplete fix for command-injection prevention on Windows — case-insensitive extension bypass","modified":"2026-02-03T03:17:23.271119Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"deno","purl":"pkg:cargo/deno","ranges":["<2.5.6"],"fixed":["2.5.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
