{"cve":"CVE-2026-22798","nvd":{"published":"2026-01-12T22:16:08.780","modified":"2026-06-17T10:20:26.990","status":"Analyzed","description":"hermes is an implementation of the HERMES workflow to automatize software publication with rich metadata. From 0.8.1 to before 0.9.1, hermes subcommands take arbitrary options under the -O argument. These have been logged in raw form. If users provide sensitive data such as API tokens (e.g., via hermes deposit -O invenio_rdm.auth_token SECRET), these are written to the log file in plain text, making them available to whoever can access the log file. This vulnerability is fixed in 0.9.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":5.0},"cwes":["CWE-532"],"references":["https://github.com/softwarepub/hermes/commit/7f64f102e916c76dc44404b77ab2a80f5a4e59b1","https://github.com/softwarepub/hermes/commit/90cb86acd026e7841f2539ae7a1b284a7f263514","https://github.com/softwarepub/hermes/security/advisories/GHSA-jm5j-jfrm-hm23"],"products":["software-metadata.pub:hermes"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:19:41.481987139+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-22798","score":0.00172,"percentile":0.06554,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-jm5j-jfrm-hm23","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-jm5j-jfrm-hm23","summary":"hermes's raw options logging may disclose secrets passed in via subcommand options argument","modified":"2026-07-07T17:56:32.181291920Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"hermes","purl":"pkg:pypi/hermes","ranges":[">=0.8.1 <0.9.1"],"fixed":["0.9.1"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-1449","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-1449","summary":"hermes's raw options logging may disclose secrets passed in via subcommand options argument","modified":"2026-07-07T17:47:42.281155694Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"hermes","purl":"pkg:pypi/hermes","ranges":[">=0.8.1 <0.9.1"],"fixed":["0.9.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
