{"cve":"CVE-2026-22782","nvd":{"published":"2026-01-16T17:15:54.343","modified":"2026-06-17T10:20:25.033","status":"Analyzed","description":"RustFS is a distributed object storage system built in Rust. From >= 1.0.0-alpha.1 to 1.0.0-alpha.79, invalid RPC signatures cause the server to log the shared HMAC secret (and expected signature), which exposes the secret to log readers and enables forged RPC calls. In crates/ecstore/src/rpc/http_auth.rs, the invalid signature branch logs sensitive data. This log line includes secret and expected_signature, both derived from the shared HMAC key. Any invalidly signed request triggers this path. The function is reachable from RPC and admin request handlers. This vulnerability is fixed in 1.0.0-alpha.80.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P","score":2.9},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-532"],"references":["https://github.com/rustfs/rustfs/blob/9e162b6e9ebb874cc1d06a7b33bc4a05786578aa/crates/ecstore/src/rpc/http_auth.rs#L115-L122","https://github.com/rustfs/rustfs/commit/6b2eebee1d07399ef02c0863bd515b4412a5a560","https://github.com/rustfs/rustfs/security/advisories/GHSA-333v-68xh-8mmq"],"products":["rustfs:rustfs"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:21:16.563232421+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-22782","score":0.00524,"percentile":0.44469,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-333v-68xh-8mmq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-333v-68xh-8mmq","summary":"RustFS's RPC signature verification logs shared secret","modified":"2026-02-03T03:17:04.868139Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"rustfs","purl":"pkg:cargo/rustfs","ranges":[">=1.0.0-alpha.1 <1.0.0-alpha.80"],"fixed":["1.0.0-alpha.80"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
