An authenticated client can send a custom Element with a user-controlled path value, causing the server to copy the referenced file into the attacker’s session. The resulting element identifier (chainlitKey) can then be used to retrieve the file contents via /project/file/<chainlitKey>, allowing disclosure of any file readable by the Chainlit service.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":7.1},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-22"],"references":["https://github.com/Chainlit/chainlit/releases/tag/2.9.4","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/chainlit-arbitrary-file-read-via-project-element","https://www.zafran.io/resources/chainleak-critical-ai-framework-vulnerabilities-expose-data-enable-cloud-takeover"],"products":["chainlit:chainlit"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:21:16.563232421+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-22218","score":0.09724,"percentile":0.95516,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"PYSEC-2026-598","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-598","summary":"","modified":"2026-07-02T08:45:06.090293533Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"chainlit","purl":"pkg:pypi/chainlit","ranges":["<2.9.4"],"fixed":["2.9.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
