{"cve":"CVE-2026-22043","nvd":{"published":"2026-01-08T15:15:45.583","modified":"2026-06-17T10:19:24.933","status":"Analyzed","description":"RustFS is a distributed object storage system built in Rust. In versions 1.0.0-alpha.13 through 1.0.0-alpha.78, a flawed `deny_only` short-circuit in RustFS IAM allows a restricted service account or STS credential to self-issue an unrestricted service account, inheriting the parent’s full privileges. This enables privilege escalation and bypass of session/inline policy restrictions. Version 1.0.0-alpha.79 fixes the issue.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:H/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P","score":5.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-522","CWE-269","CWE-284"],"references":["https://github.com/rustfs/rustfs/security/advisories/GHSA-xgr5-qc6w-vcg9","https://github.com/rustfs/rustfs/security/advisories/GHSA-xgr5-qc6w-vcg9"],"products":["rustfs:rustfs"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:19:41.481987139+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-22043","score":0.00419,"percentile":0.36279,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-xgr5-qc6w-vcg9","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-xgr5-qc6w-vcg9","summary":"RustFS has IAM deny_only Short-Circuit that Allows Privilege Escalation via Service Account Minting","modified":"2026-02-03T03:16:08.570527Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"rustfs","purl":"pkg:cargo/rustfs","ranges":[">=1.0.0-alpha.13 <1.0.0-alpha.79"],"fixed":["1.0.0-alpha.79"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
