{"cve":"CVE-2026-16313","nvd":{"published":"2026-07-28T17:16:37.807","modified":"2026-10-14T22:10:00.210","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"A flaw was found in sg3_utils. The sg_inq command, when invoked with the --export option, outputs device identification data without sanitizing control characters in SCSI name string fields. A newline character embedded in a device-supplied name string can inject arbitrary properties into the udev device database. This could allow an attacker who can present a crafted SCSI device to execute arbitrary commands as root when the device is disconnected.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:P/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.6},"cwes":["CWE-93"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:50141","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:50142","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:54769","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:56130","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:59397"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:46:40.600842820+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-16313","score":0.00348,"percentile":0.28175,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
