{"cve":"CVE-2026-1615","nvd":{"published":"2026-02-09T05:16:24.353","modified":"2026-08-25T13:17:50.300","status":"Deferred","description":"Versions of the package jsonpath before 1.3.0 are vulnerable to Arbitrary Code Injection via unsafe evaluation of user-supplied JSON Path expressions. The library relies on the static-eval module to process JSON Path input, which is not designed to handle untrusted data safely. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by supplying a malicious JSON Path expression that, when evaluated, executes arbitrary JavaScript code, leading to Remote Code Execution in Node.js environments or Cross-site Scripting (XSS) in browser contexts. This affects all methods that evaluate JSON Paths against objects, including .query, .nodes, .paths, .value, .parent, and .apply.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N/E:P","score":8.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-94"],"references":["https://github.com/dchester/jsonpath/blob/c1dd8ec74034fb0375233abb5fdbec51ac317b4b/lib/handlers.js%23L243","https://github.com/dchester/jsonpath/commit/b61111f07ac1a8d0f3133b5fc51438ecb76a6c39","https://security.snyk.io/vuln/SNYK-JAVA-ORGWEBJARSNPM-15141219","https://security.snyk.io/vuln/SNYK-JS-JSONPATH-13645034","https://access.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2026:59155"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-1615","score":0.01166,"percentile":0.67333,"date":"2026-11-01"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-87r5-mp6g-5w5j","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-87r5-mp6g-5w5j","summary":"jsonpath has Arbitrary Code Injection via Unsafe Evaluation of JSON Path Expressions","modified":"2026-03-19T16:31:29.559898Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"jsonpath","purl":"pkg:npm/jsonpath","ranges":["<1.3.0"],"fixed":["1.3.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
