{"cve":"CVE-2026-12706","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-19T12:16:27.100","modified":"2026-06-22T20:16:28.617","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"A use-after-free vulnerability was found in FFmpeg's RASC video decoder. The decode_move() function initializes a read pointer into a decompressed buffer, but a subsequent reallocation of that same buffer during move-table processing leaves the pointer dangling. An attacker could exploit this by providing a specially crafted AVI file containing a malicious RASC video stream. When a user opens or plays the file, the decoder reads from freed heap memory, which could lead to a denial of service (crash).","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-416"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-12706","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2490710","https://lists.ffmpeg.org/archives/list/ffmpeg-devel@ffmpeg.org/message/TTRIJZA7UL6KJTEDMMBGZPLLJERJ3EFX/","https://patchwork.ffmpeg.org/project/ffmpeg/patch/177766314111.63.10674887811034989327@29965ddac10e/"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:39:28.638635428+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-12706","score":0.00454,"percentile":0.39427,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
