{"cve":"CVE-2026-12528","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-17T15:16:44.357","modified":"2026-06-28T00:22:17.270","status":"Analyzed","description":"A flaw was found in 389 Directory Server in the __aclp__normalize_acltxt() function of aclparse.c. A malformed ACI (Access Control Instruction) string can trigger heap-buffer-overflow writes and reads during ACI parsing. The function fails to validate that the ACI keyword has sufficient length after whitespace stripping, leading to a 1-byte out-of-bounds write and subsequent out-of-bounds reads. An authenticated user with write access to the aci attribute could send a crafted ACI value to silently corrupt heap memory in the directory server process.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L","score":5.4},"cwes":["CWE-787"],"references":["https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-12528","https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2489835","https://github.com/389ds/389-ds-base/pull/7542"],"products":["redhat:389_directory_server","redhat:directory_server","redhat:enterprise_linux"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:39:28.638635428+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-12528","score":0.00226,"percentile":0.13344,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
