{"cve":"CVE-2026-118653","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-28T20:17:22.400","modified":"2026-10-28T20:17:22.400","status":"Received","description":"Echo is a Go web framework. From 4.0.0 until 5.1.0, Context.RealIP falls back to client-supplied X-Forwarded-For or X-Real-IP values when Echo.IPExtractor is unset, and the default RateLimiter uses that result as its client identifier. A remote attacker can rotate arbitrary forwarded-address values to obtain new rate-limit buckets and bypass IP-based throttling used for controls such as brute-force or request-volume protection. This issue is fixed in Echo v5.1.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-290"],"references":["https://github.com/labstack/echo/commit/22e4b71109ef072ef011a489066ec662ca9565b2","https://github.com/labstack/echo/releases/tag/v5.1.0","https://github.com/labstack/echo/security/advisories/GHSA-246p-cpwv-v3jq"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-28T20:41:45.883959281+00:00"},"epss":null,"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-246p-cpwv-v3jq","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-246p-cpwv-v3jq","summary":"Echo has Rate Limiter Bypass via Spoofed X-Forwarded-For Header in Default Configuration","modified":"2026-10-28T20:00:03.857322848Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/labstack/echo/v5","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/labstack/echo/v5","ranges":["<5.1.0"],"fixed":["5.1.0"]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/labstack/echo/v4","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/labstack/echo/v4","ranges":[">=4.0.0 <=4.16.2"],"fixed":[]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
