{"cve":"CVE-2026-118265","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-28T19:17:31.377","modified":"2026-10-28T19:17:31.377","status":"Received","description":"Echo is a Go web framework. From 5.0.0 until 5.4.1, Echo v5's ExtractIPFromRealIPHeader validates whether the client-supplied X-Real-IP value belongs to a trusted range instead of validating the direct network peer. A client reaching Echo directly, or through a proxy that preserves the header, can supply a loopback or private address and have Context.RealIP return that spoofed identity. Applications using the extractor for IP allowlists, rate limiting, audit logs, or forwarding headers can consequently trust an attacker-controlled address; the default direct extractor and Echo v4 are unaffected. This issue is fixed in 5.4.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-348"],"references":["https://github.com/labstack/echo/commit/1855061e572ae9dab727c811d8382f266bfbaae","https://github.com/labstack/echo/releases/tag/v5.4.1","https://github.com/labstack/echo/security/advisories/GHSA-h53f-rm2w-w7rg"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-28T19:37:43.506563291+00:00"},"epss":null,"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-h53f-rm2w-w7rg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-h53f-rm2w-w7rg","summary":"Echo: X-Real-IP extractor trusts the header value instead of the sending peer","modified":"2026-10-28T19:15:03.307613547Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/labstack/echo/v5","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/labstack/echo/v5","ranges":[">=5.0.0 <5.4.1"],"fixed":["5.4.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
