{"cve":"CVE-2026-116694","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-27T21:18:05.323","modified":"2026-10-27T21:18:05.323","status":"Received","description":"OpenTelemetry Python provides the Python API and SDK for OpenTelemetry. Prior to 1.45.0, JaegerPropagator.extract() in opentelemetry-propagator-jaeger processes inbound uberctx-* baggage values without entry, per-entry byte, or total-byte limits. Services that enable the optional Jaeger propagator can perform unnecessary CPU work and short-lived heap allocations when an untrusted carrier supplies numerous or oversized values, contributing to denial of service when transport-level limits do not constrain the input. Common default Python HTTP server limits reduce the practical impact, while custom getters, non-HTTP transports, or raised header limits increase exposure. This issue is fixed in version 1.45.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.3},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-770"],"references":["https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-python/commit/65c4eeb87cd3815dc795d3b5485e9ea0d5affcc7","https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-python/pull/5556","https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-python/releases/tag/v1.45.0","https://github.com/open-telemetry/opentelemetry-python/security/advisories/GHSA-f5m9-jfrj-jjj7"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-27T21:34:42.744807390+00:00"},"epss":null,"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-f5m9-jfrj-jjj7","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-f5m9-jfrj-jjj7","summary":"OpenTelemetry Python: Unbounded memory allocation in Jaeger baggage propagation","modified":"2026-10-27T21:15:03.816531840Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"opentelemetry-propagator-jaeger","purl":"pkg:pypi/opentelemetry-propagator-jaeger","ranges":["<1.45.0"],"fixed":["1.45.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
