From 2.0.0 until 5.131.1 and 6.20.1, the default DD_TRACE_OBFUSCATION_QUERY_STRING_REGEXP can perform excessive backtracking on attacker-controlled URL query strings. The expression is applied synchronously while recording HTTP URL metadata, allowing a crafted request to consume excessive CPU, stall request processing, and make the instrumented application unavailable. This issue is fixed in versions 5.131.1 and 6.20.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-1333"],"references":["https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-js/commit/5eeee790c93036a50549056fc890028cb4c86b1b","https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-js/commit/cf4e68a45fa1442c9850f2086c81901258e821b8","https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-js/pull/10675","https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-js/releases/tag/v5.131.1","https://github.com/DataDog/dd-trace-js/releases/tag/v6.20.1"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-27T21:34:42.744807390+00:00"},"epss":null,"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x94g-w73q-hpcw","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x94g-w73q-hpcw","summary":"dd-trace: ReDOS in URL query string obfuscation","modified":"2026-10-27T21:15:03.805874263Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"dd-trace","purl":"pkg:npm/dd-trace","ranges":[">=2.0.0 <5.131.1"],"fixed":["5.131.1"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"dd-trace","purl":"pkg:npm/dd-trace","ranges":[">=6.0.0 <6.20.1"],"fixed":["6.20.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
