{"cve":"CVE-2026-115897","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-23T22:16:59.153","modified":"2026-10-23T22:16:59.153","status":"Received","description":"Serialize JavaScript serializes JavaScript values to a superset of JSON that includes regular expressions and functions. Prior to 7.1.3, the function-source escaping logic does not neutralize a bare closing-script prefix when attacker-influenced function source text ends exactly at that prefix. Because each function body is escaped independently, a delimiter supplied by surrounding serialized output can terminate an HTML script element, and a later serialized value supplies injected markup that becomes a live element in the page. Exploitation requires control of a serialized function's source text, such as through a spoofed toString(). This issue is fixed in version 7.1.3.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:P/PR:L/UI:P/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N/SC:L/SI:L/SA:N","score":2.1},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://github.com/yahoo/serialize-javascript/commit/2864b3c6260a3bfd52d2db3e70d1a079de108a61","https://github.com/yahoo/serialize-javascript/pull/235","https://github.com/yahoo/serialize-javascript/releases/tag/v7.1.3","https://github.com/yahoo/serialize-javascript/security/advisories/GHSA-m5mm-p8h7-m29v"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-24T16:53:35.584907681+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-115897","score":0.00307,"percentile":0.23234,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-m5mm-p8h7-m29v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-m5mm-p8h7-m29v","summary":"Serialize JavaScript: Cross-site scripting (XSS) via unescaped </script at the end of a serialized function body","modified":"2026-10-24T02:55:55.507718062Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"serialize-javascript","purl":"pkg:npm/serialize-javascript","ranges":["<7.1.3"],"fixed":["7.1.3"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
