{"cve":"CVE-2026-11527","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-14T12:16:23.357","modified":"2026-07-23T10:10:00.170","status":"Deferred","description":"Config::IniFiles versions before 3.001000 for Perl allow OS command injection and file overwrite via a 2-arg open() of the -file argument in _make_filehandle.\n\nConfig::IniFiles::_make_filehandle opens a filename argument with Perl's 2-arg open(), so a filename that begins or ends with a pipe (\"| cmd\", \"cmd |\") or begins with a redirect (\"> path\", \">> path\") is run as a command or redirect rather than opened as a file. The helper is the open path behind the documented -file argument: new(-file => $thing) reaches it through ReadConfig. An in-memory scalar reference (-file => \\$text) does not open a path and is unaffected.\n\nAny caller that forwards untrusted input to the -file argument can run an arbitrary command or truncate a file under the process UID.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":8.6},"cwes":["CWE-73","CWE-78"],"references":["https://github.com/shlomif/perl-Config-IniFiles/commit/3e48f9627fbba4dae5de35be1f735cdeb7e47fb8.patch","https://metacpan.org/release/SHLOMIF/Config-IniFiles-3.001000/changes","http://www.openwall.com/lists/oss-security/2026/06/14/5","https://lists.debian.org/debian-lts-announce/2026/06/msg00026.html"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:38:48.522727527+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-11527","score":0.01068,"percentile":0.64818,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
