From 4.1.0 until 4.2.1, SoftFileLock can restore a stale marker by name after moving it aside, allowing another local user with rename access in a non-sticky lock directory to swap in a symbolic link and, on a runtime that follows the link and a same-filesystem target, make the lock user hard-link one of its files into the lock directory. This issue is fixed in version 4.2.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:H/A:N","score":5.3},"cwes":["CWE-59","CWE-363"],"references":["https://github.com/tox-dev/filelock/commit/740ff666b62a88496c8d7394e4e6230605e4d62b","https://github.com/tox-dev/filelock/pull/843","https://github.com/tox-dev/filelock/releases/tag/4.2.1","https://github.com/tox-dev/filelock/security/advisories/GHSA-crv4-6mhj-j5jh"],"products":["tox-dev:filelock"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-22T16:41:11.231219466+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-112914","score":0.00161,"percentile":0.05265,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-crv4-6mhj-j5jh","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-crv4-6mhj-j5jh","summary":"filelock: SoftFileLock stale-break restore follows a swapped-in symbolic link and hard-links a file of the user running the lock into the lock directory","modified":"2026-10-23T22:15:05.387500982Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"filelock","purl":"pkg:pypi/filelock","ranges":[">=4.1.0 <4.2.1"],"fixed":["4.2.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
