{"cve":"CVE-2026-112403","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-19T22:17:07.770","modified":"2026-10-22T22:18:01.700","status":"Undergoing Analysis","description":"Pillow is a Python imaging library. Prior to 13.0.0, Pillow's JPEG decoder can write a full-width scanline into a buffer sized for a requested draft scale. ImagingJpegDecode does not verify libjpeg's actual output width and component count after scaling is requested, and an 8-bit lossless SOF3 JPEG decoded by a build linked to libjpeg-turbo 3.x can ignore the requested downscaling geometry. An attacker can supply such a JPEG to an application that uses draft() or thumbnail() to request downscaling. This can corrupt heap memory, crash the process, or potentially allow code execution. Older libjpeg-turbo 2.x and IJG builds reject the SOF3 input. This issue is fixed in version 13.0.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":9.2},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-122"],"references":["https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/commit/242a059aedc1935097d9aa1dc3f099750467ba75","https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/releases/tag/13.0.0","https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/security/advisories/GHSA-8g5g-8vmr-9782","https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/security/advisories/GHSA-8g5g-8vmr-9782"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-23T16:39:26.291718493+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-112403","score":0.00771,"percentile":0.55383,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-8g5g-8vmr-9782","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-8g5g-8vmr-9782","summary":"Pillow: Heap buffer overflow in ImagingJpegDecode","modified":"2026-10-26T08:56:04.293161248Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pillow","purl":"pkg:pypi/pillow","ranges":["<13.0.0"],"fixed":["13.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
