{"cve":"CVE-2026-110974","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-22T09:17:13.450","modified":"2026-10-22T15:37:23.163","status":"Awaiting Analysis","description":"The org.json parser in com.vaadin.external.google:android-json recurses once per nesting level with no depth limit: JSONTokener.nextValue() calls readArray() and readObject(), which call nextValue() again. A deeply nested JSON document, around 20 KB of nested arrays with the default thread stack, makes the JSONArray and JSONObject constructors throw a raw java.lang.StackOverflowError instead of a JSONException. Any application that parses untrusted JSON with this library can be made to fail the thread doing the parsing. The artifact is a 2013 repackage of third-party org.json classes, published once and never maintained, and no fixed version will be released.\n\n\nUsers of the affected version should apply the following mitigation.\n\nProduct version\ncom.vaadin.external.google:android-json 0.0.20131108.vaadin1\n\nMitigation\nNo fixed version will be released. Replace the artifact with an org.json implementation that limits the nesting depth, such as org.json:json 20231013 or later.\n\nArtifacts\nMaven coordinates / Vulnerable versions / Fixed version\ncom.vaadin.external.google:android-json / 0.0.20131108.vaadin1 / none","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:L/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":6.3},"cvss_v3":null,"cwes":["CWE-674"],"references":["https://repo.maven.apache.org/maven2/com/vaadin/external/google/android-json/0.0.20131108.vaadin1/"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-22T16:42:36.023364351+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-110974","score":0.00329,"percentile":0.2579,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
