{"cve":"CVE-2026-106508","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-06T22:17:06.310","modified":"2026-10-09T17:44:55.037","status":"Analyzed","description":"Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 1.15.4, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-node package is affected by potential file exposure through local techdocs publisher. When using the local TechDocs publisher (techdocs.publisher.type: 'local'), it was possible for the documentation serving endpoint to follow filesystem references outside the intended documentation tree, potentially exposing host files to authenticated users. This is mitigated by the fact that exploration requires preconditions that do not arise through normal MkDocs operation. Cloud-based publishers (S3, GCS, Azure Blob Storage) are not affected. This issue is fixed in version 1.15.4.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-59"],"references":["https://github.com/backstage/backstage/commit/6aecb26f337ffec1d4e67ce903cf1e39b6082ec4","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/releases/tag/v1.54.6","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/security/advisories/GHSA-cm77-ch27-6w6v"],"products":["linuxfoundation:backstage","linuxfoundation:backstage_plugin-techdocs-node"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:58:01.639778232+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-106508","score":0.00389,"percentile":0.32759,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-cm77-ch27-6w6v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-cm77-ch27-6w6v","summary":"Backstage has potential file exposure through local TechDocs publisher","modified":"2026-10-07T16:30:06.353170553Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@backstage/plugin-techdocs-node","purl":"pkg:npm/%40backstage/plugin-techdocs-node","ranges":["<1.15.4"],"fixed":["1.15.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
