Prior to 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package is affected by sensitive information exposure in scaffolder task logs. An authenticated user who can create and read scaffolder tasks may be able to observe sensitive values in task logs in deployments with restrictive action permissions and affected templates. Exploitation requires a denied action whose input contains such a value. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-532"],"references":["https://github.com/backstage/backstage/commit/3eb3dc59eb0da0deccd532f19eb460bb452c9efb","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/releases/tag/v1.54.6","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/security/advisories/GHSA-4xvq-3m68-h444"],"products":["linuxfoundation:backstage","linuxfoundation:backstage\\/plugin-scaffolder-backend"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:58:01.639778232+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-106504","score":0.00257,"percentile":0.17217,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-4xvq-3m68-h444","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-4xvq-3m68-h444","summary":"Backstage has sensitive information exposure in scaffolder task logs","modified":"2026-10-07T16:30:05.290352985Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend","purl":"pkg:npm/%40backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend","ranges":["<4.1.0"],"fixed":["4.1.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
