Prior to 4.1.0, the @backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend package could expose secret-derived values in Scaffolder task logs. Deployments that configure sensitive scaffolder.defaultEnvironment.secrets and allow an attacker to create or modify Scaffolder templates are affected. A template author could cause secret-derived values used during template iteration to be persisted and exposed to users who can access the resulting task logs. This issue is fixed in version 4.1.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":4.9},"cwes":["CWE-532"],"references":["https://github.com/backstage/backstage/commit/dc30fae2d96cb1606d36cc40b242f9b9e539bd70","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/releases/tag/v1.54.6","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/security/advisories/GHSA-mfvq-x7vr-rgqg"],"products":["linuxfoundation:backstage","linuxfoundation:backstage\\/plugin-scaffolder-backend"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:58:01.639778232+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-106499","score":0.0027,"percentile":0.18966,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-mfvq-x7vr-rgqg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-mfvq-x7vr-rgqg","summary":"Backstage: Secret-derived values may be exposed in scaffolder task logs","modified":"2026-10-07T18:15:10.788059211Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend","purl":"pkg:npm/%40backstage/plugin-scaffolder-backend","ranges":["<4.1.0"],"fixed":["4.1.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
