Prior to 3.9.1, the @backstage/plugin-catalog-backend package is affected by inconsistent enforcement of allowed location types during catalog processing. Under certain configurations, the catalog backend could process location types that were not intended to be allowed, potentially leading to unintended file access on the backend host. This issue is fixed in version 3.9.1.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-863"],"references":["https://github.com/backstage/backstage/commit/23774b61560d851bc69cd6a77d12561b24d11afd","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/releases/tag/v1.54.6","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/security/advisories/GHSA-pcmq-25r3-5w9v"],"products":["linuxfoundation:backstage","linuxfoundation:backstage_plugin-catalog-backend"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:58:01.639778232+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-106496","score":0.00244,"percentile":0.15416,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pcmq-25r3-5w9v","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pcmq-25r3-5w9v","summary":"Backstage: Inconsistent enforcement of allowed location types during catalog processing","modified":"2026-10-07T18:15:13.120771098Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@backstage/plugin-catalog-backend","purl":"pkg:npm/%40backstage/plugin-catalog-backend","ranges":["<3.9.1"],"fixed":["3.9.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
