{"cve":"CVE-2026-106489","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-06T21:17:17.770","modified":"2026-10-22T14:42:34.903","status":"Analyzed","description":"Backstage is an open framework for building developer portals. Prior to 2.2.4, the @backstage/plugin-techdocs-backend package is affected by improper authorization enforcement for techdocs static content. An authenticated user with access to one TechDocs documentation site could craft a URL able to read documentation belonging to a different entity. This only affects deployments using the external TechDocs builder with an external storage provider (S3, GCS, etc.) and the permission framework enabled. Instances that do not use the permission framework are unaffected, since TechDocs content is visible to all authenticated users by design. This issue is fixed in version 2.2.4.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-862"],"references":["https://github.com/backstage/backstage/commit/bf6bbf7326ada7d96d7b2c4ebc4a71546106f311","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/releases/tag/v1.54.6","https://github.com/backstage/backstage/security/advisories/GHSA-rg9r-hr7g-5gc2"],"products":["linuxfoundation:backstage","linuxfoundation:backstage\\/plugin-techdocs-backend"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-22T16:41:11.231219466+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-106489","score":0.00289,"percentile":0.21222,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-rg9r-hr7g-5gc2","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-rg9r-hr7g-5gc2","summary":"Backstage: Improper authorization enforcement for TechDocs static content","modified":"2026-10-07T18:15:13.176895630Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"@backstage/plugin-techdocs-backend","purl":"pkg:npm/%40backstage/plugin-techdocs-backend","ranges":["<2.2.4"],"fixed":["2.2.4"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
