In versions before 3.90.0 and canary versions before 4.0.0-canary.34, an authenticated user who can update or delete uploads stored locally can cause file cleanup to remove unintended files outside the configured upload directory, resulting in data loss or service disruption. Deployments that restrict upload management to trusted users are less exposed. This issue is fixed in versions 3.90.0 and 4.0.0-canary.34.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:H/A:H","score":8.1},"cwes":["CWE-22","CWE-73"],"references":["https://github.com/payloadcms/payload/commit/6b74418f628fa633c2f297e5919a9f91b383dc11","https://github.com/payloadcms/payload/releases/tag/v3.90.0","https://github.com/payloadcms/payload/security/advisories/GHSA-p223-2wr2-j562"],"products":["payloadcms:payload"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:58:01.639778232+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-105865","score":0.00379,"percentile":0.31618,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-p223-2wr2-j562","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-p223-2wr2-j562","summary":"Payload: Incomplete validation during the upload file lifecycle","modified":"2026-10-07T20:45:06.343437500Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"payload","purl":"pkg:npm/payload","ranges":["<3.90.0"],"fixed":["3.90.0"]},{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"payload","purl":"pkg:npm/payload","ranges":[">=4.0.0-canary.0 <4.0.0-canary.34"],"fixed":["4.0.0-canary.34"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
