{"cve":"CVE-2026-10513","nvd":{"published":"2026-06-30T19:16:26.473","modified":"2026-07-01T13:56:17.493","status":"Deferred","description":"The Webmention plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Stored Cross-Site Scripting in versions up to and including 5.8.0 via parser-derived 'avatar' and 'url' author metadata. This is due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied MF2 author properties processed by the unauthenticated webmention REST endpoint and rendered directly into HTML 'value' attributes by the edit-comment-form template without esc_attr() or esc_url(). This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a privileged user (moderator or administrator) opens the affected comment edit screen.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":7.2},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/webmention/tags/5.7.0/includes/handler/class-mf2.php#L129","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/webmention/tags/5.7.0/templates/edit-comment-form.php#L15","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset/3583033/webmention","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/5a4e144a-3c84-4da3-8fa6-e5fe9c897efe?source=cve"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:41:17.107060303+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-10513","score":0.00405,"percentile":0.34828,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
