{"cve":"CVE-2026-104774","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-12T20:17:07.617","modified":"2026-10-16T20:04:29.760","status":"Deferred","description":"OWASP Coraza WAF is a golang modsecurity compatible web application firewall library. From 3.0.0 until 3.8.0, the t:jsDecode transformation in internal/transformations/js_decode.go:64-70 includes the backslash in the octal buffer, causing ParseInt to fail and return a null byte. The flaw is triggered when a rule relies on t:jsDecode and the request contains JavaScript octal escape sequences. An unauthenticated attacker can encode attack syntax with JavaScript octal escapes so the backend decodes the intended bytes while Coraza rules using t:jsDecode inspect corrupted null-byte output. The mismatch can bypass WAF rules and expose the protected application to attacks such as cross-site scripting or SQL injection. This issue is fixed in version 3.8.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:N/I:L/A:N","score":5.8},"cwes":["CWE-172","CWE-193","CWE-693"],"references":["https://github.com/corazawaf/coraza/commit/f9b7afdbcedce7ad814663eaee2e342578ea3bb2","https://github.com/corazawaf/coraza/releases/tag/v3.8.0","https://github.com/corazawaf/coraza/security/advisories/GHSA-pc5q-qfxp-ggqv","https://github.com/corazawaf/coraza/security/advisories/GHSA-pc5q-qfxp-ggqv"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:58:52.678897993+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-104774","score":0.00322,"percentile":0.24992,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-pc5q-qfxp-ggqv","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-pc5q-qfxp-ggqv","summary":"Coraza: jsDecode Off-by-One in Octal Escape Handling Enables WAF Bypass","modified":"2026-10-19T21:40:49.940962982Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/corazawaf/coraza/v3","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/corazawaf/coraza/v3","ranges":[">=3.0.0 <3.8.0"],"fixed":["3.8.0"]}]},{"id":"GO-2026-6696","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GO-2026-6696","summary":"Coraza: jsDecode Off-by-One in Octal Escape Handling Enables WAF Bypass in github.com/corazawaf/coraza","modified":"2026-10-19T21:31:52.276959358Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/corazawaf/coraza","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/corazawaf/coraza","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/corazawaf/coraza/v2","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/corazawaf/coraza/v2","ranges":["all versions"],"fixed":[]},{"ecosystem":"Go","name":"github.com/corazawaf/coraza/v3","purl":"pkg:golang/github.com/corazawaf/coraza/v3","ranges":[">=3.0.0 <3.8.0"],"fixed":["3.8.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
