{"cve":"CVE-2026-104266","nvd":{"published":"2026-10-15T18:17:22.983","modified":"2026-10-21T01:17:19.640","status":"Deferred","description":"tinytag is a Python library for reading audio file metadata. From 2.0.0 until 2.3.0, an M4A file containing a sub-atom with a size of zero inside a ---- atom can cause the metadata parser to stop advancing through the input. The custom-field atom traversal repeatedly processes the malformed location, causing an infinite loop and denying service to a program that reads the crafted file. This issue is fixed in version 2.3.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-835"],"references":["https://github.com/tinytag/tinytag/commit/9ada221ba44990cb02cd9002d992186e037b515e","https://github.com/tinytag/tinytag/pull/326","https://github.com/tinytag/tinytag/releases/tag/2.3.0","https://github.com/tinytag/tinytag/security/advisories/GHSA-24cc-9352-h2pg"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-21T03:56:58.798400159+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-104266","score":0.00332,"percentile":0.26128,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-24cc-9352-h2pg","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-24cc-9352-h2pg","summary":"tinytag: Infinite loop when parsing certain M4A files containing invalid atoms","modified":"2026-10-15T20:30:05.136549303Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"tinytag","purl":"pkg:pypi/tinytag","ranges":[">=2.0.0 <2.3.0"],"fixed":["2.3.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
