Prior to 6.19.0, a crafted PDF containing many embedded files can cause the dictionary-based attachments API in pypdf/_doc_common.py to reparse the full attachment list for each content lookup, producing repeated work and long runtimes when an application accesses the embedded-file mapping. This issue is fixed in version 6.19.0.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-400","CWE-407"],"references":["https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/commit/6b10556d13609a68f9ed18bb29fdd8bba88eb2c3","https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/pull/4081","https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/releases/tag/6.19.0","https://github.com/py-pdf/pypdf/security/advisories/GHSA-v247-6f48-mgcj"],"products":["pypdf_project:pypdf"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:57:46.668721662+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-102999","score":0.00348,"percentile":0.28083,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-v247-6f48-mgcj","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-v247-6f48-mgcj","summary":"pypdf: Possible long runtimes with large amount of embedded files","modified":"2026-10-01T17:55:57.901958888Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pypdf","purl":"pkg:pypi/pypdf","ranges":["<6.19.0"],"fixed":["6.19.0"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-4159","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-4159","summary":"pypdf: Possible long runtimes with large amount of embedded files","modified":"2026-10-01T17:45:16.839952663Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pypdf","purl":"pkg:pypi/pypdf","ranges":["<6.19.0"],"fixed":["6.19.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
