{"cve":"CVE-2026-102828","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-29T19:17:25.207","modified":"2026-10-08T20:03:07.760","status":"Analyzed","description":"simple-git, an interface for running git commands in any node.js application, enables applications to execute Git operations from JavaScript. From 3.15.0 until 4.0.1, the default blockUnsafeOperationsPlugin does not classify trailer.<token>.cmd as unsafe configuration. An application that passes attacker-controlled values through SimpleGitOptions.config or inline -c arguments can therefore allow Git to invoke an attacker-selected shell command when git interpret-trailers processes the configured trailer. The command executes with the operating-system identity and permissions of the Node.js process. This issue is fixed in 4.0.1.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:H/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":9.2},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-78","CWE-184"],"references":["https://github.com/steveukx/git-js/commit/d762810c13b331ff1e5eb24c0b434646d2a8d1b3","https://github.com/steveukx/git-js/pull/1198","https://github.com/steveukx/git-js/releases/tag/simple-git@4.0.1","https://github.com/steveukx/git-js/security/advisories/GHSA-x6jw-m9v5-85vh"],"products":["simple-git_project:simple-git"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:48.555445741+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-102828","score":0.0037,"percentile":0.30634,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-x6jw-m9v5-85vh","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-x6jw-m9v5-85vh","summary":"simple-git unsafe-operation guard does not block trailer command configuration","modified":"2026-10-06T00:00:09.444607978Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"simple-git","purl":"pkg:npm/simple-git","ranges":[">=3.15.0 <4.0.1"],"fixed":["4.0.1"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
