{"cve":"CVE-2026-102827","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-29T19:17:25.050","modified":"2026-10-08T20:11:17.640","status":"Analyzed","description":"simple-git, an interface for running git commands in any node.js application, enables applications to execute Git operations from JavaScript. Prior to 4.0.0, the default blockUnsafeOperationsPlugin compares parsed option names with literal dangerous option spellings while Git accepts unambiguous long-option abbreviations. Attacker-influenced push arguments such as abbreviated --receive-pack or --exec forms can therefore bypass detectVulnerableFlags, reach git push against a local or file remote or an attacker-influenced receive-pack target, and cause Git to invoke an attacker-selected command in consumers that expose those arguments. The clone-side abbreviation handling does not protect the push path. This issue is fixed in 4.0.0.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":9.8},"cwes":["CWE-77","CWE-88"],"references":["https://github.com/steveukx/git-js/commit/98864c678444d9336357c844efa4fd5a7984c0d7","https://github.com/steveukx/git-js/pull/1193","https://github.com/steveukx/git-js/releases/tag/simple-git@4.0.0","https://github.com/steveukx/git-js/security/advisories/GHSA-858h-whjf-mvg5"],"products":["simple-git_project:simple-git"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:48.555445741+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-102827","score":0.00576,"percentile":0.47244,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-858h-whjf-mvg5","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-858h-whjf-mvg5","summary":"simple-git: unsafe-operations plugin bypass via git long-option abbreviation (--receive-p/--exe) -> command execution (residual of CVE-2026-28291)","modified":"2026-10-06T00:00:10.392204845Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"simple-git","purl":"pkg:npm/simple-git","ranges":["<4.0.0"],"fixed":["4.0.0"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
