{"cve":"CVE-2026-102825","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-29T19:17:24.713","modified":"2026-09-30T20:17:24.100","status":"Deferred","description":"Russh is a Rust SSH client and server library. Prior to 0.62.6, the USERAUTH_REQUEST path reached from server::run_stream in russh/src/server/encrypted.rs increments self.common.auth_attempts but never compares it with server::Config.max_auth_attempts. An unauthenticated remote client can continue submitting authentication requests on one connection beyond the configured cap, bypassing the deployment's attempt-limiting policy and increasing online guessing opportunity and backend authentication workload. This issue is fixed in version 0.62.6.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N","score":3.7},"cwes":["CWE-307"],"references":["https://github.com/Eugeny/russh/commit/f8fd0b11a393364dc7f01a182482d86adafdd653","https://github.com/Eugeny/russh/releases/tag/v0.62.6","https://github.com/Eugeny/russh/security/advisories/GHSA-g6xm-f9xp-qq35","https://github.com/Eugeny/russh/security/advisories/GHSA-g6xm-f9xp-qq35"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:48.555445741+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-102825","score":0.00353,"percentile":0.28652,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-g6xm-f9xp-qq35","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-g6xm-f9xp-qq35","summary":"Russh: Configured server auth-attempt cap is not enforced in the USERAUTH_REQUEST runtime path","modified":"2026-09-30T23:30:05.964211406Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"crates.io","name":"russh","purl":"pkg:cargo/russh","ranges":["<0.62.6"],"fixed":["0.62.6"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
