{"cve":"CVE-2026-102490","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-30T17:16:40.707","modified":"2026-10-09T14:21:05.030","status":"Analyzed","description":"Zammad packages built with packager.io (DEB and RPM) could have allowed a local attacker who already had file system write privileges as the unprivileged zammad service account to escalate to full root privileges on the host. Service processes began running as root and executed files that were owned and writable by the zammad account before dropping their identity to that account. An attacker holding that foothold could have escalated within seconds, because the affected services were restarted automatically whenever they stopped; no administrator interaction was required. Only installations from the DEB and RPM packages were affected — installations from source or the official container images were not. All released packaged versions were affected.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H/SC:H/SI:H/SA:H/E:A/AU:Y/V:C","score":9.4},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H","score":7.8},"cwes":["CWE-269"],"references":["https://csirt.divd.nl/CVE-2026-102490","https://csirt.divd.nl/DIVD-2026-00015","https://github.com/zammad/zammad/security/advisories/GHSA-p97w-927q-8vxq","https://zammad.com/en/advisories/cve-2026-102489-cve-2026-102490","https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog?field_cve=CVE-2026-102490"],"products":["zammad:zammad"],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:48.555445741+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-102490","score":0.00857,"percentile":0.58162,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":{"cve":"CVE-2026-102490","date_added":"2026-10-02","due_date":"2026-10-05","vendor":"Zammad GmbH","product":"Zammad","known_ransomware":false},"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
