This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This is possible because the plugin's esc_html filter callback decodes HTML-entity-encoded payloads (e.g. those containing '<tip>') back into live HTML, meaning an entity-encoded script payload submitted as a comment author name — which bypasses sanitize_text_field — is rendered as executable markup when an administrator views wp-admin/edit-comments.php.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:C/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":7.2},"cwes":["CWE-79"],"references":["https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/magic-tooltips-for-contact-form-7/trunk/lib/wp-hooks.php#L96","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/browser/magic-tooltips-for-contact-form-7/trunk/magic-tooltips-for-contact-form-7.php#L18","https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3723483%40magic-tooltips-for-contact-form-7&new=3723483%40magic-tooltips-for-contact-form-7","https://www.wordfence.com/threat-intel/vulnerabilities/id/94e8de22-c373-4f0c-9723-f19752ade4e7?source=cve"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:57:46.668721662+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-101928","score":0.00319,"percentile":0.2463,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
