{"cve":"CVE-2026-100665","nvd":{"published":"2026-09-26T14:16:49.677","modified":"2026-10-02T16:16:41.803","status":"Deferred","description":"Netty versions from 4.2.11.Final before 4.2.18.Final contain an incomplete hostname verification fix in the QUIC certificate verification path when using a plain X509TrustManager. The BoringSSLCertificateVerifyCallback discards the SSLEngine for plain trust managers, preventing endpoint identification from running even when HTTPS verification is configured. Attackers on the network path can present a certificate chain for the wrong hostname that the plain trust manager accepts, bypassing hostname authentication for QUIC clients.","cvss_v4":{"vector":"CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:N/VA:N/SC:N/SI:N/SA:N","score":8.7},"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:N/A:N","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-295"],"references":["https://github.com/netty/netty/commit/09e72c4fd8007277121ed48db63a124b112b96fe","https://github.com/netty/netty/commit/994e887ed9","https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-mj35-3qqm-q387","https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/netty-4.2.11-through-4.2.17-quic-hostname-verification-bypass","https://github.com/netty/netty/security/advisories/GHSA-mj35-3qqm-q387"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:56:48.555445741+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2026-100665","score":0.00367,"percentile":0.30327,"date":"2026-10-25"},"kev":null,"osv":[],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
