A vulnerability that is present starting in version 1.4.4-lts.1 and prior to version 2.0.2 allows an attacker to trigger a Denial of Service (DoS) by sending a malformed multi-part upload request. This request causes an unhandled exception, leading to a crash of the process. Users should upgrade to version 2.0.2 to receive a patch. No known workarounds are available.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H","score":7.5},"cwes":["CWE-248"],"references":["https://cna.openjsf.org/security-advisories.html","https://github.com/expressjs/multer/commit/adfeaf669f0e7fe953eab191a762164a452d143b","https://github.com/expressjs/multer/security/advisories/GHSA-fjgf-rc76-4x9p"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:05:46.678065081+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-7338","score":0.00808,"percentile":0.56862,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-fjgf-rc76-4x9p","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-fjgf-rc76-4x9p","summary":"Multer vulnerable to Denial of Service via unhandled exception from malformed request","modified":"2025-07-17T21:44:33.348037Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"npm","name":"multer","purl":"pkg:npm/multer","ranges":[">=1.4.4-lts.1 <2.0.2"],"fixed":["2.0.2"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
