The library uses Python pickle to deserialize CMap cache files without validation. An attacker with the ability to place a malicious pickle file in a location accessible to the application can trigger arbitrary code execution or privilege escalation when the file is loaded by a trusted process. This is caused by an incomplete patch to CVE-2025-64512.","cvss_v4":null,"cvss_v3":{"version":"3.1","vector":"CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N","score":6.5},"cwes":["CWE-502"],"references":["https://github.com/advisories/GHSA-f83h-ghpp-7wcc","https://github.com/pdfminer/pdfminer.six/security/advisories/GHSA-f83h-ghpp-7wcc"],"products":[],"source":"nvd","synced_at":"2026-10-19T22:22:27.261130201+00:00"},"epss":{"cve":"CVE-2025-70559","score":0.0032,"percentile":0.24982,"date":"2026-10-31"},"kev":null,"osv":[{"id":"GHSA-f83h-ghpp-7wcc","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/GHSA-f83h-ghpp-7wcc","summary":"Insecure Deserialization (pickle) in pdfminer.six CMap Loader — Local Privesc","modified":"2026-07-08T07:38:27.593871221Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pdfminer-six","purl":"pkg:pypi/pdfminer-six","ranges":["<20251230"],"fixed":["20251230"]}]},{"id":"PYSEC-2026-1761","url":"https://osv.dev/vulnerability/PYSEC-2026-1761","summary":"Insecure Deserialization (pickle) in pdfminer.six CMap Loader — Local Privesc","modified":"2026-07-07T17:47:47.641982117Z","packages":[{"ecosystem":"PyPI","name":"pdfminer-six","purl":"pkg:pypi/pdfminer-six","ranges":["<20251230"],"fixed":["20251230"]}]}],"attribution":["This product uses the NVD API but is not endorsed or certified by the NVD.","EPSS scores: FIRST Exploit Prediction Scoring System, https://www.first.org/epss","Known exploited vulnerabilities: CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities Catalog, https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog","Package advisories: OSV (https://osv.dev), from the GitHub Advisory Database, PyPA, Go, RustSec and other ecosystem databases, under CC-BY 4.0 or CC0","CVE records: the CVE Program's CVE List (https://www.cve.org), under its terms of use (https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse).
